Now Hiring – Full-Time Veterinary Assistant (Hospital Floor Technician)
Rocklin Ranch Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care is seeking a motivated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our hospital team. This role is ideal for someone who has foundational veterinary experience and is eager to continue developing their technical skills in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
As part of Rocklin Park Veterinary Hospitals, a family-owned group of 11 veterinary hospitals throughout the Greater Sacramento area, we are committed to providing exceptional patient care while investing in the growth and development of our team members.
Schedule
- Tuesday – Saturday
- 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Compensation
- $21.00 – $23.00 per hour
- Based on experience and skill set
About the Role
The Hospital Floor Technician serves as a vital support team member throughout the hospital. This position works closely with doctors, RVTs, and veterinary assistants to ensure patients receive outstanding care while helping maintain efficient hospital flow.
This is not an entry-level position, but it is an excellent opportunity for someone who has a solid foundation in veterinary medicine and is looking to continue learning and advancing their technical skills.
Veterinary Assistant Responsibilities
- Assist with patient restraint for examinations, treatments, diagnostics, and procedures
- Perform blood draws and collect diagnostic samples
- Assist with patient treatments and nursing care
- Support hospitalized patient care and monitoring
- Triage urgent and walk-in patients as needed
- Assist doctors and technicians with procedures throughout the hospital
- Run in-house laboratory diagnostics
- Administer medications and treatments as directed
- Transport and prepare patients for diagnostics and procedures
- Maintain treatment areas and hospital cleanliness
- Communicate effectively with team members regarding patient care needs
- Provide exceptional patient advocacy and compassionate care
Qualifications
Required
- Previous veterinary assistant experience
- Strong patient restraint and handling skills
- Experience performing blood draws
- General knowledge of vaccination protocols and preventive care
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
Preferred
- Triage experience
- Hospitalization or treatment experience
- Familiarity with in-house laboratory equipment
- Experience working in a high-volume general practice or urgent care setting
- Jugular blood draw experience (training available for the right candidate)
