Job Overview
Veterinary Assistant (VASCP) – Hospitalization/Floor
Schedule: Full-Time | 4 x 10-hour shifts (Friday–Monday)
Pay: Up to $26.00/hour, based on experience

Rocklin Ranch Veterinary Hospital & Urgent Care is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant with a valid Veterinary Assistant Controlled Substance Permit (VASCP) or someone eligible to renew their permit to join our Hospitalization team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled veterinary professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working with hospitalized and urgent care patients.
What You'll Do
- Monitor and care for hospitalized patients
- Perform patient triage and assist with urgent care cases
- Obtain blood samples, including confident jugular venipuncture
- Place intravenous (IV) catheters
- Perform cystocentesis
- Monitor anesthesia and sedated patients
- Assist with patient recovery and ongoing treatments
- Work collaboratively with veterinarians and the medical team to provide exceptional patient care
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure high standards of patient safety
Qualifications/Proficient in:
- Current VASCP or eligible to renew
- Experience in a general practice, urgent care, or emergency veterinary setting
- CPR
- Patient triage
- Jugular blood draws
- IV catheter placement
- Cystocentesis
- Anesthetic monitoring
- Sedation protocols
- Hospitalized patient care
- Experience with Constant Rate Infusions (CRIs) is preferred but not required
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
