East Sacramento Veterinary Center is looking for an entry level Veterinary Assistant to join our team!

This is a position that will utilize basic veterinary technical skills; rooming clients, assisting DVM's and RVT's, , in-house blood work, client communication and more. We are open:
Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 6:00pm.

Ideal candidates will:
  • Have a minimum of 1 year previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant in a veterinary hospital.
  • Basic Tech skills;, Safe Patient Restraint, Run In-House Lab Work, Wellness Recommendations, Tech calls/answering phones.
  • Possess strong organizational skills.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Have a moderate to advanced understanding of medical terminology.
  • Perform clerical and public contact duties with professionalism including emergency situations.
  • Exercise technical knowledge of OTC and prescription products sold.
  • Accurately relay the owner's account of the medical complaint(s) for the animal(s) involved to the healthcare team members who will be involved in treating the patient(s).
  • Have knowledge of medical record control schedules.
  • Be able to manage basic cleaning procedures of common areas.
  • Be able to work independently and within the team on assigned tasks.
  • Support the mission and vision of the practice.
  • Follow OSHA regulations.
Preference given to candidates with:
  • 1 Plus years experience as a Veterinary Assistance.
PHYSICAL EFFORT

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the primary functions of this job.
  • Frequently handling 30 pounds and occasionally handling 50 pounds. Lifting, bending, repetitive motions.
  • Frequently required to communicate with clients, team members and associates. Must be able to exchange accurate information.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to hazards associated with aggressive patients; hazards associated with infected animals and controlled substances; exposure to unpleasant odors and noises; exposure to bites, scratches and animal wastes; possible exposure to contagious diseases.
